Mathematics Department
The LACC Mathematics Program offers courses ranging from Algebra to Ordinary Differential Equations, including Statistics. We currently offer an Associate of Arts degree in Mathematics and an Associate of Science degree for Transfer with an emphasis in Mathematics.
Our courses are offered in different sessions: 15-week semesters (Fall/Spring), 5-week Winter sessions, and 5-week and 8-week Summer sessions. Instructional modalities include in-person, hybrid, hyflex, online (synchronous and asynchronous) classes which meet from one to four days per week. Classes start early in the morning and finish in late evening to accommodate a variety of schedules.

LACC’s Math Team has consistently placed in the top 6 out of around 200 colleges in the National American Mathematics Association of Two Year Colleges Competition (AMATYC) in recent years.
About Our Department
The LACC Math Department encourages students to complete transfer-level course work within a year. The Pi-Shop Tutoring Center provides math tutoring services for students in all math levels, including Statistics and Mathematical Programming. Our service offers flexible tutoring options, including individual and group sessions, in-person and online, to support and enhance students' math learning. The tutoring support offered by the Pi-Shop has become crucial to the learning of science and mathematics and helping students to reach their academic goal, and the student success rates speak very highly for it. The vast majority of those who use the Pi-Shop pass their math classes, compared with a lower pass rate for those who take math classes but don’t use the Pi-Shop.
Other opportunities include math scholarships that are awarded every Spring semester, a nationally-ranked Math Club that meets on Fridays, employment in our tutoring center, and various math events that occur throughout the year.
