Office of Special Services
OSS facilitates equal access for LACC students with disabilities to participate in educational programs, services, and campus activities through appropriate and reasonable academic adjustments. Academic adjustments and auxiliary aids and services are determined on a case-by-case basis by an OSS professional in conjunction with student dialogue, professional documentation, identified educational limitations, and the degree or extent of functional limitation associated with the student’s disability.
OSS Steps for Success
Step 1: Get Enrolled in OSS
If you are new to OSS and interested to learn about OSS Eligibility, OSS Services, and how to apply to our program.
Not sure if you qualify for services? Contact our learning disabilities specialist to set up a confidential appointment to see how OSS can help.
Step 2: Get Your Accommodation Letters
The accommodation letters inform your instructor of your accommodations. Once enrolled in a class, contact your OSS specialist to request your letters.
- Email Donna Morley For students with a learning disability
- Email Robert Dominick If your last name starts with A - L
- Email Houa Lee If your last name starts with M - Z
Notes:
- You must request letters every semester after you enroll in a class.
- OSS only provides letters for LACC classes. If you are taking a class at another campus, you will need to contact the DSPS office at that campus.
Step 3: OSS Services
Here are some of the services offered here at the OSS.
Welcome to the Office of Special Services
It is our sincere desire to help you achieve your academic and career education goals. Active participation in OSS will help you become an independent advocate for yourself and for other students with disabilities.
Academic advisement, counseling, assistive technology, adaptive equipment, exam accommodations, sign language interpreters, Braille transcription, learning disabilities assessment as well as other auxiliary aids and services are provided for eligible students. Please apply at OSS and meet with a qualified OSS professional to schedule and arrange these services. It is important to review your educational strengths, limitations, academic adjustment needs, and progress each semester that you are enrolled and to request authorized academic adjustments in a timely manner from your classroom instructors at LACC.
We strongly encourage you to take this opportunity to review the information in the OSS website and to complete your OSS Application or Update. New students will need to complete the LACC and OSS Orientations and make an appointment with an OSS Counselor to complete a Student Educational Plan and Academic Accommodations Plan.
If you have questions or need further assistance, please contact any of the personnel listed under OSS Staff. If you have or think you have a disability, please schedule an appointment with one of our OSS Counselors or Learning Disabilities Specialists.
Good luck with your educational career and/or transfer objectives at LACC!
