Academic Advisement
The Upward Bound Program's Academic Advisors support and guide participants to pursue a postsecondary education. Academic advisement takes place throughout the year at each of the LACC Upward Bound school sites. All students are advised to pursue the A-G requirements in order to be eligible for admission to most four-year colleges and universities.
Academic Advisors meet with participants to inform them of college credit courses that will allow them to receive both high school and college credit. Students are also informed of volunteer and community service opportunities, and receive assistance with registering for the PSAT, ACT, and SAT. Advisors will also discuss current and future class schedules, academic performance, tutoring opportunities, and provide educational, personal, and career advising.
