After-School Tutoring
The Upward Bound High School After-School Tutoring program has been on-going since the beginning of 2017. It is mandatory for any student receiving a D or lower in any class or with a 2.5 or lower GPA.
This program is held once per week at each high school (see schedule below) and involves tutors, the academic advisor assigned to that school, and Upward Bound director Michael Lopez.
The program includes various activities geared toward colleges, academics, and FUN. Each week there is something different, from presentations by college professionals to games and food. In addition to the activity planned for the day, at least one tutor is available to students who need help with their homework.
Attendance is MANDATORY for any student receiving a D or lower in any class, and optional to every UB participant with Cs or higher. Jessica Sanchez, Emmy Kong, or Natividad Robles will be checking to make sure that students with low grades or other "issues" are attending the After-School program. This is another opportunity for all students to make weekly contact with their advisors and to have fun.
