This Week @ City - January 24, 2023
Good Tuesday morning,
I missed getting this out yesterday. We have two weeks before our Spring 2023 semester begins. We are working diligently to brings students back and get new students started. Our headcount is at the District average and our enrollment is in the middle of the pack. We have a big enrollment event this Saturday. We have almost 100 volunteers working to inform interested students about programs, services and how to enroll for classes. We hope to see a nice increase in enrollment after this event. If you have not already signed up to volunteer, please plan to join us. I will have to miss it because I am up to Sacramento on Saturday for my CEO Board meeting and Legislative Conference. But I will be with you all in spirit.
After this weekend’s disturbing events, and out of respect for those who lost their lives and those who lost loved ones, we will have our Lunar New Year luncheon next Wednesday, February 1 at noon. More details to follow. We will hold a moment of silence in remembrance of all the victims of this senseless violence. Anyone who would like to talk about how you are feeling about all of this, Joseph Exnowski is here to help you. Please contact him at phone: 323-953-4000 x 2274; email: @email
We have a lot of exciting happenings at LACC over the next few weeks including this week’s classified staff retreat this Friday, January 27, from 8:30am to 4pm, our Enrollment Fair on Saturday, January 28, from 10am to 2pm, ad our faculty symposium on Thursday, February 2, from 8am to 3pm.
Chancellor Rodriguez will have a special Town Hall on Thursday, February 2, in morning at 8:30am for the campus update regarding the presidential search. The faculty will be in the multipurpose room of the Student Union and we will have a Zoom link for everyone else to attend the Town Hall virtually.
Registration is in full swing for spring classes. Students can visit the Welcome Center for assistance and find classes at: https://www.lacitycollege.edu/academics/class-schedules. Please be sure to reach out to your students to make sure they register for spring classes.
We have transitioned to our new LACC website. OIT is still in the process of implementing the Single Sign On system allowing everyone access to edit their pages. In the meantime, if you need to change something on your website immediately, please email @email for assistance.
