This Week @ City April 22, 2024
Good Monday Morning,
Last Wednesday evening, we held our CTE Spotlight Awards, celebrating excellence and innovation in Career and Technical Education at LACC. The event was held at Sofi Stadium Corona Beach House and the awards recognized outstanding achievements and contributions in the field of Career and Technical Education. Thank you to all of the students, faculty, staff and industry partners who attended.
Please remind your students that Summer and Fall priority enrollment is open! EOPS students can cut to the front of the line and be the first to enroll in classes. Summer session begins June 10.
This week we remember the victims of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 – 1923, the first genocide of the 20th century, where 1.5 million Armenians perished and hundreds of thousands more were uprooted from their homes and ancient homeland. We stand in firm solidarity with our Armenian community at LACC and extend our sincere sympathy to the survivors and their descendants for the hardships they have suffered. To commemorate this day of remembrance, the LACCD Board of Trustees unanimously passed a Resolution last year,
establishing April 24 of each year as a “Day of Remembrance for the Armenian Genocide of 1915 to 1923” to denounce any such systematic destruction of a culture and to acknowledge this painful history in the hope of preventing all such events in the future. This Wednesday the campus will be closed. Next week, on May 2, we will be hosting a celebration for Armenian Cultural Day.
