Welcome LACC Student-Athletes!
Student-Athletes are required to complete two study hours per week (total), split between the Writing Center, the Pi Shop (math), and/or the General Tutoring Program (anatomy, chemistry, communications, music, and physiology) in whatever way is most beneficial for them. The goal of Student-Athlete tutoring hours is to help student-athletes succeed in their classes.
At the Writing Center, Student-Athletes may use any Writing Center service, or they can drop in for a Student Athlete Study Session in AD 100 to complete their tutoring hours.
Student-Athlete Study Sessions at the Writing Center
Here's how to drop in for a Student-Athlete Study Session at the Writing Center (AD 100):
- Check in & check out (front kiosk): Check in and check out at the Student-Athlete Study Session Kiosk at the front desk in AD 100. This is how your Study Session minutes are tracked, so please make sure to check in at the beginning of your session and check out at the end of your session. If you forget to check out, your minutes may not be logged correctly.
- Let us know what you're working on (QR code): Scan the QR code on this website or in the Writing Center to submit the "What I'm Working on Today" form to let us know what you'll be working on during your study session.
- Study productively: During your study session, you're required to be working on classwork. Be prepared to show a tutor what you're working on at any time. We may cancel your session if you're not studying. Please limit talking and phone use.
- Get help from a tutor: Let us know if you need help with anything at all! Writing tutors are standing by, and can help you with things like writing & grammar, Canvas, Microsoft Word, note-taking, memorization techniques, reading strategies, and more. If you'd like to get individualized tutoring help for writing, math, or general tutoring program subjects (anatomy, chemistry, communications, music, or physiology), just let us know and we'll help connect you with a tutor (see below for more info).
