Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.
Spanish Professor & Study Abroad Director
I am a tenured Spanish professor at Los Angeles City College and coordinator of the Study Abroad Program. I was born and raised in El Salvador. I graduated from CSULA with a BA in Spanish and received my Master's degree as well with an emphasis in Language and Literacy. My wise grandmother raised me with a saying that has become the personal mantra for my intention to establish the LACC study abroad program: “When you die, the only thing you take with you are your memories of the places you have traveled and your education.”
Christine Park
Department Chair of Music at the Herb Alpert Music Center
Her education comes from The Juilliard School in New York City, Conservatorio di Musica Luigi Cherubini in Firenze, Italy, and California State University, Northridge with degrees in Piano Performance, Music Education, Italian Baroque Musicology, and International Piano Pedagogy. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Liverpool, UK.
Professor Park began her career at LACC in 2002. She has been active as the Director of Staff & Organizational Development (2009-2015), Director of the New Faculty Academy (2009-2017), and the Chair of Work Environment Committee (2016-2017). Aside from LACC, Professor Park served as the President of the Music Association of California Community Colleges (2012-2014) and on the Executive Board (2006-2015).
Professor Park is currently on the Education Committee of the LA Opera and newly elected as the Chapter President of AFT 1521.
Sandra Parada
Assistant Director
I never realized traveling was a passion of mine until I started working for the LACC Study Abroad Program. As a child, I was raised on summer getaways and yearly family trips abroad. Yes, I felt fortunate and appreciative of these adventures, yet in hindsight, it became a privileged custom.
